Hi there!
My ideas on the future... continued...
nanotech is going to seriously change the world in a few very short years/
If a carbon based system to transmit electricity develops, with extremely low loss, then the world as we know it will never be the same.
Why? Copper's main use is in electrical transmission. It's price has gone from 69 cents a pound in 2002, to hover around 4 dollars. Chile's main source of wealth (60% approximately) comes from Cu.
But at the same time, electricity is generated in abundance in Chile for hydro.
Add two and subtract two...(lower prices for copper, higher selling capacity for electricity to ever further markets)
what else? New efficient engines will make electric vehicles more practical. Air quality may improve, electrical engines can be controlled better. Safer roads.
Nano technology can make roads that stick to tires, dissipate water at astonishing rates, or even melt snow. Cost will be a factor, but imagine no slipping off the road. No skidding.
Imagine shoes that can be programmed to bounce as high as you want.
Imagine new film or video technologies that let you see the most vivid images the human eye can capture.
Cancer medicines based on small crews of robots searching for a specific disease, cell, cancer, etc. Only attacking these parties.
But also imagine spies that you cannot detect. That can invade any point on the planet and retransmit information about everything they detect.
Imagine defense applications where a small machines invades the enemies body, and does whatever it's programmed to. Just as a medical application can search out a cell, so can these look for your brain, your retinas.
Imagine a phone encrusted inside your ear. Powered by your own body.
to be continued
